Design Description

Akan goldsmiths cast small brass figures called abrammuo, used with a hand scale to weigh out gold dust. Each one is a working weight to a defined standard and a sculpture at the same time, and most of them carry a proverb, so a transaction came with a saying attached. The object measures, argues and decorates in one casting.

A seal ringed with circuit traces holds one glyph at the centre, part antenna and part standing figure, a dot resting at the top of it. Ancient Spirit and Future Power run around the outside, two phrases sharing one ring. A carved-looking form set inside a printed circuit, with the join left visible. Read it in either direction. The ring closes both ways.
