Dogon diviners draw a grid of squares into the sand outside the village at dusk, set out bait, and go home. Overnight the pale fox crosses the grid. In the morning the diviner reads the tracks and answers the question that was put to it. The method has been in use a very long time and it is taken seriously by the people using it.

A pale fox sits at the centre of the frame, sun on one side and crescent moon on the other, held inside a spinning lattice of sacred geometry with its paws rooted into a spiral. Watching rather than wandering.

A great deal of knowledge got passed down well before it got written down. The fox has been answering questions the entire time.
