Venus draws a five-petalled figure in the sky. Five of its synodic cycles come out almost exactly equal to eight Earth years, so if you plot where Venus sits against the stars at the same point each cycle and join the marks, you get a rosette that closes on itself. Mesopotamian astronomers tracked it, and the eight-pointed star was their sign for the planet.

An eye holds the centre of an eight-pointed star, drawn in navy linework sharp as a compass rose. The points reach evenly in every direction, keeping the eye steady at the middle of everything it beholds.
