Design Description

An electron in an atom occupies specific energy levels and skips everything between them, because it behaves as a standing wave and only certain wavelengths close the loop cleanly. The shells are harmonics. An atom sits closer to a struck bell than to a small solar system, and the notes it can hold were fixed by geometry a very long time ago.

A profile turns in purple and gold, a starburst breaking at the crown of the head, a triangular-patterned wrap set above the brow. Electron shells circle the whole head as thin gold ellipses with small white spheres riding them at intervals, a bright point burning where the nucleus sits. BORN OF THE CORE arcs overhead and CROWNED BY THE ATOM closes the circle below.

Two crowns on one woman. The wrap her people gave her, and the shells physics gave everybody. Both are structure, both are inherited, and the older one has been holding its shape for thirteen billion years.
