This solar system is at least third-hand. The cloud it condensed from was already seeded with heavy elements by earlier generations of stars that lived and died before the sun existed, which is how there was carbon and iron and gold lying around to build planets out of. Earlier generations had access to hydrogen and helium and worked upward from there.

Gye Nyame stands in silhouette while a supernova opens around it: magenta, crimson and gold flung outward, stars scattered clean through the debris field.

That symbol at the centre is the oldest thing here, and the light around it is the youngest. Everything solid about you was assembled by stars that finished their work before this one started.
