Design Description

Ahmed Baba of Timbuktu lost sixteen hundred books when Morocco invaded in 1591. He described that collection as the smallest library among his relatives.

He wrote more than forty works of his own, spent years in exile in Marrakesh where scholars queued to study with him, and asked repeatedly to be allowed to go home.

A king on a throne, crowned and robed, holding a lit staff. Around him: an atom, a telescope, an open book, orbital rings, and E = mc² worked into the field. MYSTIC MAN across the base.

Regalia and instruments in one frame, neither apologising for the other. Knowledge drawn as a form of sovereignty rather than a route to it.
