Design Description

Bessie Coleman went to France. Every American flight school turned her down in 1920, so she took French lessons in Chicago, sailed to Le Crotoy, trained on a Nieuport biplane and came back in 1921 holding an international pilot's licence that made her the first Black woman anywhere to have one.

The obstacle was real. She routed around it and kept the destination.
