Design Description

Thuban held the pole when the pyramids went up. Around 2600 BCE the star at the celestial north was Thuban in Draco, and the descending passage of the Great Pyramid points down the line where it sat. Precession has since moved the pole to Polaris and will move it on to Vega, which held the job around twelve thousand BCE and takes it back near the year 13,700.

That is the drift. The axis draws a slow circle, one degree every seventy-two years, closing the loop in about twenty-six thousand. A profile sits at the centre of the wheel, gridded like a navigator's chart, with a small arrow marking where we stand: 2026.

One degree is roughly what a life buys you. Your ancestors measured it anyway, and passed the number down.
