Design Description

Hipparchus worked it out around 127 BCE by comparing his own measurements of star positions against Babylonian records made a hundred and fifty years earlier. The stars had shifted. He calculated the rate, and precession entered the record as a measured quantity rather than a feeling about time.

Four ages around the ring, each with its own small architecture: a monolith, a temple, a fortress, a colonnade. Down one side, Ascending. Down the other, Descending. Arrows turning at the centre.

The whole cycle at once, both directions, on one circle. It took two civilisations comparing notes across a century and a half to notice it was moving at all.
