Design Description

The word for this arrangement is syzygy, from the Greek suzugia, meaning a yoking. Sun, moon and Earth pull into one line, and the language that describes it reaches for the image of two animals harnessed to the same plough. What looks from here like a struggle is, in the vocabulary, a partnership under load.

A gold crescent turns inside a dark navy disc, an interlaced knot sitting in the lens where the two shapes cross, the whole thing wrapped in a dozen thin concentric rings.

Conflict and coupling arrive at the same geometry. The knot is the tell.
